But as an artist, I refuse to not have my hand in the creation of the record at all times from all angles. Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?Ī) Me and My Co-Producer Matthew Veirs both work on every song together and I’d say we both put forth the same hard work, love and energy into the production. Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?Ī) When it comes to writing for me the feeling and emotion of the cord progression will bring a story out of me that’ll be my main focus for the song. And after getting the production done, I decided I’d be awesome to have him on the record as he is coming out as an artist and has a killer voice! A lot of what I know about the game and a lot of the reason I’m where I am now is because of him. Q) How did you come to work with Honore on the track?Ī) Reginald Cantrell Honore “HONORE” has been a long-time friend of mine who’s helped guide me as a mentor the last five years. I think this speaks to any and everybody who has. And at some point we all feel heartbreak.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?Ī) I think we all go through the life lesson of not making a single person or persons(s) your main and maybe even only source of happiness. I created the story to have it be more of a romantic relationship so that people could connect on a different level, but all in all it’s about a dark time in my life where I didn’t love myself and searched for love in the wrong places. Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Coconut Rum.”Ī) “Coconut Rum” is about losing your best friend. Q) Who are some of your musical influences?Ī) Tone Stith, Chris brown, Justin Bieber, Robin Thicke, Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, New Edition, Boys II Men and Charlie Puth.
